My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell was banned from Twitter in 2021. Fast forward a year or so, when Elon Musk reached a deal to purchase Twitter for $44 billion. His stated purpose was to bring back freedom of speech. He has stated that, rather than outright banning someone, he would prefer some sort of “time out.”

Many conservatives are very happy about the purchase, since it has been conservative voices that have been most silenced on Twitter and other social media platforms. For example, most people are aware that Twitter also “permanently suspended” Donald Trump.

Musk’s purchase of the site is likely why My Pillow CEO Mike Lindell felt the time was right to rejoin Twitter, and he did so on Sunday, May 1, 2022.

Here is what he Tweeted:

Hello everybody, I’M BACK ON TWITTER. My only account is @MikeJLindell!Please RT and FOLLOW to SPREAD THE WORD.

According to Newsweek, within about five minutes Lindell’s account already had over 20,000 users. Ultimately he ended up with more than 37,000 followers. Then Twitter removed his account, just four hours after Lindell rejoined.

A spokesperson for Twitter told Newsweek that the account was permanently suspended for violating the platform’s rules on ban evasion.

Lindell seems to have jumped too soon. The Twitter deal is not expected to close for three to six months, since shareholders must approve the deal and it is still subject to regulatory review. Obviously the powers that be at what we will call “old Twitter” are still in control and made that clear with Lindell.
