Florida Gov. DeSantis Wins His War Against “Woke” Florida Textbook Publishers

Earlier in the month of April, Governor DeSantis caught the Florida Math Textbook publishers trying to sneak CRT material into the K-5 curriculum. With any other Governor, those publishers might have gotten away with this, but DeSantis has managed to remain in the public spotlight by taking strong stances on many things.

Signs that DeSantis had won this kerfuffle came when the Florida Department of Education (FLDOE) announced on their website: “Publishers are aligning their instructional materials to state standards and removing woke content allowing the department of education to add 19 more books to the state adoption list over the past 17 days.”

The FLDOE gave publishers multiple options on how to respond to the Governor’s demand by either substituting or revising their submitted bids to meet Florida specifications, or if they believed the FLDOE had made a mistake they could appeal the demand. Their surrender is an admission of foul play.

The press secretary to the FLDOE told The Daily Caller Tuesday, “They removed woke content and made other changes to meet state standards.” This means that new books were being added to the adoption list.

The FLDOE press secretary also tweeted “Publishers are aligning their instructional materials to state standards and removing woke content, allowing the department to add 17 more books to the state adoption list over the past 14 days.”

Children deserve to be educated in a political neutral zone especially since the country has been hyper politicized. Both sides have been shown to be guilty of this, but Florida has taken strides to remove politicization from it’s public education system with moves such as the “Parental Rights In Education” bill.

The bill reads, “Classroom instruction by school personnel or third parties on sexual orientation or gender identity may not occur in kindergarten through grade 3 or in a manner that is not age-appropriate or developmentally appropriate for students in accordance with state standards.”

Do you approve with the manner in which DeSantis handled this educational issue? Let us know more in the comments.
