Psaki Resigns: Quickly Names New Biden Press Secretary

It took an extra 5 months, people, but it finally happened. After serving in the role for over a year and more than a few scandals, Jen Psaki has officially resigned from her role as Press Secretary for President Joe Biden.

Watch Psaki get emotional a the beginning of the conference.

Today’s press conference was a different kind of press conference for the White House. Instead of opening with some lame cover story for the President, it started with tears from an emotional Psaki.

However, without almost any hesitation, Psaki was quick to announce her official replacement, Karine Jean-Pierre. She said, “I just want to take the opportunity to celebrate and congratulate my friend, my colleague, my partner in truth Karine Jean-Pierre, the next White House Press Secretary.

FOX News’s Pete Doocy jumped in to say he was going to miss his favorite sparring partner in the media world. Psaki, however, didn’t seem to believe his line and simply replied “Will you?”

While the outgoing Press Sec has been widely reported to have already accepted a job offer from MSNBC upon her retirement, she refused to broach the issue, saying that she is only planning to do basic tasks like sleeping and cooking once she leaves.

Jean-Pierre will become America’s first ever black female Press Secretary in history upon taking the role, something President Biden celebrated in an official statement reading: “Karine not only brings the experience, talent and integrity needed for this difficult job, but she will continue to lead the way in communicating about the work of the Biden-Harris Administration on behalf of the American people.”

Biden also praised his outgoing Press Sec, saying, “Jen Psaki has set the standard for returning decency, respect and decorum to the White House Briefing Room. I want to say thank you to Jen for raising the bar, communicating directly and truthfully to the American people, and keeping her sense of humor while doing so.”

Admittedly the matches between Doocy and Psaki were fun to watch, although we would bet that she is relieved she doesn’t have to defend a seemingly senile boss in her next role. How do you think the new Press Secretary will perform in her role? Is it unfair to ask anyone to take that role for Biden at this point?
