On Sunday, Elon Musk made the twitter sphere aware that he had been threatened by the head of Russia’s space agency for his role in providing Ukraine with his satellite service during the Russia-Ukraine conflict.
Musk, 50, owns Starlink, a group of 2,000 satellites that blanket the Earth in low orbit and connect to dishes around the world to provide internet.
The service is being used in Ukraine to keep the country online during the Russia invasion.
Dmitry Rogozin, the head of the Russian space agency, put out a statement on Sunday on Telegram.
Here’s what he said:
“From the testimony of the captured chief of staff of the 36th Marine Brigade of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Colonel Dmitry Kormyankov, it follows that the ground-based subscriber equipment of the Starlink satellite company Elon Musk was delivered to the militants of the Nazi Azov Battalion and the Marines of the Armed Forces of Ukraine to Mariupol by military helicopters,” Rogozin said. “Elon Musk is thus involved with supplying the fascist forces in Ukraine with military communications. And for this you will have to answer in an adult way, Elon, no matter how much you’ll play the fool.”
Starlink has allegedly given Ukrainian forces the edge in winning the drone war as a nation to fight back with technology to track down the invading Russians.
“The word ‘Nazi’ doesn’t mean what he seems to think it does,” tweeted Musk. “If I die under mysterious circumstances, it’s been nice knowin’ ya.”
Maye Musk tweeted, “That’s not funny.”
Business Insider reported that Rogozin has previously gone after the world’s richest man. He’s made fun of Musk for buying Twitter and has called him “moneybags” before.
Musk has pitched Starlink as a cheap solution to getting internet in more places in the world and he’ sent some of the receiver dishes to Ukraine to help with their war effort. See our previous reporting on Musk at the Next News Network.
