California’s desire to make it nearly impossible to own a firearm may become a reality if the state legislature’s latest anti-gun bill becomes law.
California Assembly Bill 1227 was amended in the Senate last week to “immediately” impose an excise tax on handguns, rifles, and ammunition, should it become law according to Breitbart.
According to YouTuber Armed Scholar, the bill was originally a solar bill but has been expanded on licensed firearms. The video below breaks it down in greater detail.
AB 1227, which is facetiously titled the Gun Violence Prevention, Healing, and Recovery Act, since it does none of those things, would also impose a 10 percent excise tax on the sale price of handguns and 11 percent excise tax on the sale of long gun, rifle, firearm precursor part, and ammunition.
This would also include a tax on parts in gun kits that radical Democrats label as “ghost guns” since they are homemade firearms.
The vote requires a ⅔ vote in both houses of the legislature to pass but Democrats have an overwhelming 60-19 supermajority in the Assembly and 31-9 supermajority in the State Senate.
The new law comes as another way to make gun ownership difficult and cost-prohibitive in the Golden State. California already has 107 different gun control laws on the books that just infringe on gun owners’ rights instead of stopping crime.
This comes on the heels of another ridiculously anti-gun bill introduced earlier this session. Senate Bill 906 makes it mandatory that parents of students disclose firearm ownership status to the schools their children attend, including how they are stored. It requires that these questions be placed on the forms used to register or enroll students, and these forms may be made available to law enforcement.
A previous ruling made California’s limits on guns untenable and it seems they are reacting by seeking to tax gun owners to death in the state. Would you live in California knowing this?
