NYC Mayor Gets Scared As He Claims That Mayor’s Official Residence Is Haunted

There is something strange in Gracie Mansion, the official residence of the New York City mayor, according to its current residence. It looks like it might be time to call in the ghostbusters.

That is because Mayor Eric Adams does not doubt that the home on Manhattan’s Upper East Side is haunted. It is what he said during an interview during the Yankee’s victory over the Toronto Blue Jays. The game featured a dramatic bottom of the ninth inning walk-off home run from slugger Aaron Judge.

The following conversation took place according to the New York Daily News.

“The mayor of New York lives in Gracie Mansion. That doesn’t seem cool enough for you,” said Yankees broadcaster Michael Kay as Adams dropped by the YES network press booth during Tuesday night’s game at Yankee Stadium.

“No, it’s not. Trust me,” Adams said.

“And I don’t care what anyone says, there are ghosts in there, man,” the mayor added.

Kay asked Adams if he “see(s) stuff moving there.”

“All the time, man. All the time,” Hizzoner replied.

“You hear footsteps and all types of stuff?” retired outfielder Cameron Maybin chimed in.

“Listen, they’re creeping around,” Adams said.

Other families who have resided in Gracie Mansion also talk about how haunted the home is.

Chirlane McCray, the wife of ex-Mayor Bill de Blasio, claims to have heard whispers about the ghosts of a daughter of original owner Archibald Gracie inhabiting the nooks and crannies of the 223-year-old home.

“I’ve never seen her,” McCray said in 2017. “But there are times when doors open and close by themselves, and the floorboards creak as though someone is walking through the rooms.”

A century later it was bought by the city and has had many uses. It was used as the Museum of the City of New York before being turned into the official mayoral residence in 1942.
