Elon Musk Offers More Opinions on Netflix

Netflix has some new company-culture guidelines, and Elon Musk approves.

Netflix hasn’t updated the guidelines since 2017, but in the recent update it added a new section titled “Artistic Expression.”

The section reads, “Not everyone will like — or agree with — everything on our service. We let viewers decide what’s appropriate for them, versus having Netflix censor specific artists or voices.”

The new guidelines continue, “As employees we support the principle that Netflix offers a diversity of stories, even if we find some titles counter to our own personal values,” the guidelines continue. “Depending on your role, you may need to work on titles you perceive to be harmful. If you’d find it hard to support our content breadth, Netflix may not be the best place for you.”

That last line is Musk’s favorite. He Tweeted “Good move by @netflix.”

Previously Elon Musk attributed Netflix’s subscriber loss to being “woke.” He Tweeted this back in April:

“The woke mind virus is making Netflix unwatchable”

Yahoo! Finance reported that “some Netflix employees publicly criticized the company in October for airing a special in which the comedian Dave Chappelle made inflammatory comments about transgender people. The special was not removed from the streaming service despite protests.”

So it seems that the new guidelines were warranted. Sometimes your employee will do things you don’t agree with. You don’t then protest your employer, you simply stay or go. Elon Musk would agree. Have you ever publicly criticized your employer? If so, how’d that work out for you?
