Senator Mitch McConnell is right onboard with Joe Biden. They both want to throw money at Ukraine, with little oversight. They both keep egging the war on. McConnel just proved it again, with what he demanded Biden do.
McConnell wants Biden to designate the Russian Federation as an official state sponsor of terrorism. “I think it’s a good idea and I would support that,” he said. Further, he said that Biden “could do it on his own and I would urge him to do it.”
The designation, according to the Daily Mail, “places miscellaneous financial and foreign aid restrictions on a country and allows alleged victims of terrorism that its government is accused of sponsoring to sue for civil damages.”
According to McConnell, “support for Ukraine in this war against the Russians is bipartisan.” Maybe, but it’s definitely NOT bipartisan to provide unbridled support. Do you know what a horse does if it’s unbridled? It runs away, as fast as it can. And some Republicans aren’t as okay with that as McConnell clearly is.
Take Rand Paul for example. He wants some oversight into the unbridled spending Biden and McConnell want. He paused $40 billion from getting thrown at Ukraine recently, saying, “No matter how sympathetic the cause, my oath of office is to the national security of the United States of America. We cannot save Ukraine by dooming the U.S. economy.”
Paul Tweeted, “My oath of office is to the U.S. Constitution, not to any foreign nation. Congress is trying yet again to ram through a spending bill – one that I doubt anyone has actually read – and there’s no oversight included into how the money is being spent,” and “All I requested is an amendment to be included in the final bill that allows for the Inspector General to oversee how funds are spent. Anyone who is opposed to this is irresponsible.”
McConnell is as obsessed with Ukraine and Ukrainian President Zelensky as Joe Biden is. In fact, McConnell just visited Ukraine. Photo op, anyone? Of the trip he said, “It was inspiring to visit the historic capital of a beautiful country that has been forced to fight for its own survival.” While there, he referred to Putin as a “deranged invader” and praised Ukraine for so far defending itself “beyond skeptics wildest dreams.”
Senate Minority Leader McConnell leads a Republican congressional delegation to meet with President Zelenskyy in Kyiv.
Whose side is McConnell on, ours or Ukraine’s?
