Black Lives Matters is in the news again, and once again, it isn’t for doing good. It’s about money again, and how rich the executives have gotten, off of their “mission.”
“According to 63-pages of tax documents acquired by the Associated Press, executives of the Black Lives Matter Global Network Foundation Inc. have nearly $42 million in assets, despite spending more than $37 million from July 2020 to June 2021,” reports Fox News.
Zuby said it well: “The 2020 ‘BLM summer’ was incredibly divisive and painful for a lot of people. It stretched beyond the USA and infected the entire world. Black lives matter because all lives matter. But BLM sucks.”
Brian Mittendorf, Ph.D., an accounting professor at Ohio State University, had a lot to say about the disclosure, referring to it as a “huge windfall” with a “mismatch” and “gaps” in its data.
Mittendorf went on: “It comes across as an early startup nonprofit, without substantial governance structure in place, that got a huge windfall. People are going to be quick to assume that mismatch reflects intent. Whether there’s anything improper here, that is another question. But whether they set themselves up for being criticized, I think that certainly is the case because they didn’t plug a bunch of those gaps.”
ABC News reports that “the tax filing shows that nearly $6 million was spent on a Los Angeles-area compound. The Studio City property, which includes a home with six bedrooms and bathrooms, a swimming pool, a soundstage and office space, was intended as a campus for a Black artists fellowship and is currently used for that purpose,” according to a BLM board member.
ABC News further reported that “[c]ontroversy surrounding the organization’s finances has elicited probes by at least two state attorneys general. Board members said they are cooperating with civil investigations in Indiana and Ohio, and they have turned over relevant documents to those authorities.”
Zuby has had a lot to say about BLM: “LMAO. Nobody who demonised me for saying the BLM organisation was a scam has apologised to me yet. Being ahead of the curve is a lonely place.”
People tend to throw money at causes they support. In this case, radical liberals lost their minds over some very bad events. Then, instead of trying to make actual change, they threw cash at an organization that appears to have misspent it. All because it called itself the obvious: Black Lives Matter. Of course they do, because ALL lives matter. What do you think about BLM’s financial disclosure?
