Chris Wallace Lands New Gig at CNN after Collapse of CNN+

CNN announced Wednesday in a press release, “Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? will debut on HBO Max this fall with featured interviews also airing on CNN.”

After serving 18 years with FOX News, Wallace signed with the cable news network in December to serve as one of the headlining stars of the network’s much-hyped streaming service, CNN+, which has since been discontinued.

“Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace?” is the same name as Wallace’s short-lived show on the streaming service.

The press release goes on to say, “The first episodes of Who’s Talking to Chris Wallace? on CNN+ featured interviews with CEOs and media moguls, Hollywood legends and newsmakers across politics, business, world affairs, sports and culture, setting a high bar for the in-depth conversations both HBO Max and CNN audience will now enjoy.”

Wallace will host a primetime show as part of CNN’s Sunday night lineup beginning this fall, and, aside from its weekly spot in the network’s primetime lineup, Wallace’s show will also air on the HBO Max streaming service.

Wallace reacted to the news in a statement, saying, “Who’s Talking? is a rare show built for streaming that gives newsmakers the opportunity to have candid conversations and an open dialogue about the issues of the day and whatever is on their minds. I’ve never had more fun developing a program and am looking forward to bringing it to both HBO Max and CNN audiences.”

Chris Licht, Chairman and CEO of CNN Worldwide, also released a statement on the news, saying, “Part of the [CNN] brand is respectful, authentic and impactful interviews and one of the best interviewers in the business is Chris Wallace. Chris and his team developed an engaging and compelling program that we’re excited to bring to HBO Max and include in our CNN Sunday evening programming.”

After the news of the collapse of CNN+, Wallace, at the time, seemed more concerned of making sure his crew who worked on his program were able to keep their jobs at the network than his own well being.
