A new audit done of Biden’s 22.2 million followers by software firm SparkToro found that 49.3% of the president’s followers are “fake,” says Newsweek.
The auditors described “fake followers” as “accounts that are unreachable and will not see the account’s tweets (either because they’re spam, bots, propoganda, etc. or because they’re not longer active on Twitter).”
People were quick to jump on the erstwhile President.
This comes as the oncoming interim CEO Elon Musk is finishing talks to buy twitter, but has been tweeting recently that he thinks that there are too many bot accounts on Twitter.
Musk further went on to say that the 100 sample size was the same one being used by Twitter.
“My offer was based on Twitter’s SEC filings being accurate,” Musk said. “Yesterday, Twitter’s CEO publicly refused to show proof of <5%. This deal cannot move forward until he does.”

Musk said that he thinks 20 percent of Twitter accounts on the platform could be “fake/spam accounts” and that it was “4 times what Twitter claims, could be much higher.”
The current CEO of twitter Parag Agrawal responded to Musk and said that Twitter deletes over half a million spam accounts every day and locks millions more that it suspects could be spam.
For comparison, SparkToro audited Musk and discovered that 70.2% of Musk’s 93.3 million Twitter followers were spam or bots.
Do you think Musk should continue his buying of Twitter at this point?
