Snoop Dogg Endorses Pro-Cop Former Republican

Wow we have come a long way since the 90s when Snoop Dogg, one of the original gangsters of gangster rap, is coming out in force for pro-cop political candidates. Also, Snoop’s candidate of choice is also a former Republican!

The big announcement came during a zoom call to round up support for LA Mayoral candidate Rick Caruso. Snoop, whose real name is Calvin Cordozar Broadus Jr, made his feelings about the candidate clear.

“You got my support,” Snoop Dogg reportedly said in the Zoom call. “We’re a part of whatever you’re a part of, as far as bringing love to the community and keeping people there that were a part of the community.”

Caruso is currently in a neck-in-neck race for the Democrat nomination with a notoriously anti-police candidate, Rep Karen Bass.

Caruso boasts the endorsement of a few other major celebs and media figures including actress turned businesswoman Gwyneth Paltrow, music executive Scooter Braun, Snap CEO Evan Spiegel, and the founder of Netflix Ted Sarandos.

Meanwhile, Rep Bass has lined up her own string of influential endorsements including film director J.J. Abrams, actor and rapper Donald Glover, and Ari Emanuel, the CEO of Endeavor and brother of Democrat strategist Rahm Emanuel.

Caruso’s campaign stands in stark contrast to Democrats like Bass and current LA Mayor Garcetti with his focus on ending street homelessness and bolstering the presence of cops in some of LA’s most dangerous communities.

His website notes that, while serving as President of the Police Commission, Caruso “cut crime, fought corruption and stood up to political pressure to force real reform,” which he said occurred at “a time of great turmoil for the LAPD with the Department operating under a federal consent decree. Caruso restored public trust in the LAPD, especially among Black, Asian and Latino Angelenos.”

As part of his campaign for Mayor, Caruso has promised to restore the LAPD budget, return to community policing, and add 1500 new cops to the streets.

The former Republican also received the endorsement of the LA police union. Lt. Craig Lally, the union president, said in a news release, “We believe that the people of Los Angeles and the members of the LAPD agree: Our approach to public safety needs to change. Rick is not a typical politician, and we believe that he can fix L.A..”

Los Angeles has suffered from a wave of crime and homelessness ever since the success of the defund the police movement led to a huge collapse of police forces in liberal cities.

Do you think Angelenos are willing to put a cop in charge, like Mayor Eric Adams in New York, to try and save their cities from spiraling crime?
