Biden Makes Double Gaffe In South Korea

President Joe Biden has begun his Asia tour and started it by meeting newly elected South Korean President Yoon Seok-youl at the Samsung micro-chip factory on Friday for a tour.

“This is an auspicious start to my visit, because it’s emblematic of the future cooperation and innovation our nations can and must build together,” Biden said in remarks beside Yoon.

Watch the video of Biden’s first gaffe below.

Biden thanked Yoon afterward and then called him by the wrong South Korean President’s name.

“And President Moon – Yoon – you thank you everything you’ve done,” Biden said slipping up and seemingly calling him after his predecessor Moon Jae-in.

Yoon did not react to the gaffe and it seemed that Biden had ad-libbed the moment as he had previously said the South Korean’s President’s name right twice earlier in the speech.

Biden then made another mistake and called the name of the facility in Taylor, Texas – where Samsung is about to invest billions. Biden misnamed it as Tyler, Texas.

Additionally on Tuesday, Biden had trouble saying “AANHPI,” the acronym for Asians and pacific islanders.

The White House transcript shows that Biden said “AAN-NH-PI-aye, aye, aye, aye, aye, aye.”

Last Thursday, Biden mispronounced Sweden’s Prime Minister Magdalena Andersson during his remarks about Sweden and Finland joining NATO.

Last month, Biden admitted that he marks up speech drafts in a speech to teachers in the White House East Room. He compared his stutter to that of British King George VI, who had a speech impediment.

“The guy who wrote ‘The King’s Speech’ found the original speech and made a copy of it and sent it to me — no, I mean, from the movie. And he does his speeches exactly like I did,” Biden said, adding, “If you took a look at my speech, you’ll see that there’s all these slash marks in the speech.”

A Saudi TV station recently made fun of Biden mixing up names and falling asleep. Watch below.

Do you think Biden is hurting our respect abroad with his frequent gaffes?
