Top Democrat Lawyer Elias Testifies to Durham Investigation

The trial of former Hillary Clinton campaign lawyer Michael Sussman is well underway and big names are already getting dragged in. One of the most powerful Democratic attorneys in the country Marc Elias took the stand in the first 2 days.

Elias is a former partner at the Democrat-linked law firm Perkins Coie and was Sussman’s boss in his capacity as the Clinton campaign lawyer. Elias also hired Fusion GPS, the firm behind the notorious Steele dossier which claimed Trump had colluded with Russia, a claim that was never proven. Elias assigned Fusion to work with the Clinton campaign.

Elias used the trial to attack former President Trump, suggesting that Trump had relied on Russia in the 2016 election and that he had used to American legal system to threaten others into submission.

According to CNN, Elias said, “There was clearly an attempt by Russia to ruin the one clean shot that candidates get to talk to the American public. And instead of doing what any decent human being would do, and condemn it, Donald Trump said, ‘I hope Russia is listening and will find the 30,000 Hillary Clinton emails … and release them.’”

Elias also took aim at former FBI Director James Comey, who he suggested was actively working against and may have even had a vendetta against Hillary.

He said, “The FBI, for a variety of reasons, was not going to do anything to stop these bad things from happening. James Comey had taken public stances around that time period that were, in my view, unfair, and putting the thumb on the scale against Secretary Clinton.”

While Elias clearly supported Sussman in the trial, Durham and his investigatory team were still able to get a significant amount of information out of him about meeting, emails, and billing statements regarding their investigation into the spread of disinformation about fake Russian collusion during the 2016 election and sourced from the Hillary Clinton campaign.

Do you think that Durham’s investigation will end with Sussman? Do you think he has any intention to go after bigger fish like Hillary Clinton? Do you believe Elias should be tried as well for his links to the case?
