Trump-Backed Candidate Vows to Outlaw Contraception

Last week a Michigan State Senate candidate backed by former President Donald Trump announced her plan to outlaw contraception if she is elected.

Jacky Eubanks, who is running for Michigan’s 63rd House district, was speaking to Church Militant when she began to discuss the declining population in the country. According to her, we can solve this issue by outlawing contraception.

According to Eubanks, the ultimate goal of her plan is to force sex back into becoming a thing exclusively for heterosexual married couple and only for the purpose of making new babies.

“All of this could be avoided if we were actually a truly pro-life nation, which means conceiving a child is a beautiful and sacred thing and that is why sex ought to be between one man and one woman in the confines of marriage, and open to life.”

She believes that, by outlawing common contraception like birth control and condoms, people will be more inclined to wait for marriage and value their chastity.

Eubanks said, “I think people would actually be more likely to wait until marriage, to practice chastity, which is incredibly important. I think that the birth rate of children outside of wedlock would probably go down in that case.”

Eubanks also made the claim that a society must be Christian to be successful and that her plan to end gay marriage and pre-marital sex would force us back into that direction. “You cannot have a successful society outside of the Christian moral order,” she said. “And things like abortion and things like gay marriage are outside of the Christian moral order, and they lead to chaos and destruction and a culture of death.”

Despite the general consensus amongst conservative voters about reversing the decision of Roe v Wade, Jacky Eubanks’ ideas are pretty far outside the mainstream. Her plan to make this country into a nation governed by Christian morality also runs counter to the First Amendment of the US Constitution which promises “no law respecting an establishment of religion, or prohibiting the free exercise thereof.”

Do you think candidates like Eubanks would make good fits into the American political scene? Do you believe Trump was made aware of the extent of her ideologies before he made his endorsement?
