Former President Donald Trump is setting his sights on Tesla CEO Elon Musk over a tweet last week where Musk declared he was switching his party to Republican.
Late last week Elon tweeted that despite his Democrat past, he was no longer able to support them, saying, “In the past I voted Democrat, because they were (mostly) the kindness party. But they have become the party of division & hate, so I can no longer support them and will vote Republican.”
It wasn’t long before the former President weighed in, seemingly offended by Musk’s declaration on the issue.
Trump fired back on his own platform, saying “Gee, Elon Musk never told me that until now he only voted for Democrats. Actually, it was quite the contrary.”
That’s when the attack got personal, turning to Musk’s plan to buy twitter and suggesting that Elon had broken the law with his purchase of Twitter. “But now it seems, with all of his problems with a probably illegal purchase of a crummy phony account loaded company, Fake Twitter, he wants to be a Republican because the Dems are a ‘Party of hate.'”
The ex-president, who himself was a top-level Democrat donor for the majority of his life, then gave Musk a sarcastic welcome to the Republicans while trashing his former party, “I could have told him that a long time ago, but actually they are a Party of sickness, greed, corruption & absolute horrible policy. Good luck Elon, have fun!!!”
The new fight between Trump and Musk comes on the heels of Musk’s announcement to buy Twitter, which has seen a significant amount of conservative users’ access restored. Musk has even invited Trump to rejoin the platform with his old account and his 80 million followers. However, Elon also said was unlikely Trump would rejoin because he was focused on his own Social Media company.
Elon also previously suggested that he would throw his support behind ANY Republican Presidential candidate in 2024 as long as the person is NOT Donald Trump, calling the former president too divisive.
Both Donald Trump and Elon Musk absolutely LOVE being involved in a good celebrity fight, and now they have each other. Which one do you think will win the current beef? Do either of them care or is it just about maintaining relevance and publicity?
