Mike Tyson Speaks Out About Airplane Incident

Many of us have seen the video that went viral, of former Heavyweight Champion of the World Mike Tyson, pummeling a man on an airplane. Tyson is finally speaking out.

On April 20, 2022, Mike Tyson had had enough of a fellow passenger who, he said, would not stop bothering him aboard a flight. After the man allegedly threw a water bottle at Tyson, and Tyson asked him to stop, here is what ensued:

San Mateo County District Attorney Steve Wagstaffe decided not to prosecute. And Mike Tyson has decided he just can’t fly commercial anymore.

When asked about the incident, Tyson said, “Yes, they said they ain’t gonna pick up charges.” Then he fist bumped with another guest. Tyson described the incident with fellow passenger  Melvin George Townsend III, saying, “He was f*****g with me man. I took pictures with this n****.”

Tyson says his wife, Lakiha Spencer, “gets mad I take public planes.” He continued: “What am I going to do on a f*****g plane with my friends and [a bodyguard] he’s supposed to watch me? A bodyguard and a f*****g yes man. What am I gonna do on a plane?”

Tyson admitted to getting “triggered” by things like what happened on that flight, and that engaging in confrontations with people like Townsend is “[t]otally, 100 per cent” not worth it.

The man who Mike Tyson says “triggered” him “has a lengthy criminal record,” reported the Daily Mail. “Melvin George Townsend III of Punta Gorda, Florida , has 20- and 15-month prison sentences for a variety of crimes, including possession of Oxycodone, burglary, grand theft, fraud, and trafficking stolen property, according to a records search.”

Anyone with any sense should know it might be a bad idea to harass Mike Tyson. Townsend, however, based upon his criminal record, likely doesn’t have much sense. That said, if people like him trigger Mike Tyson, yes, it’s best he not fly commercial. Maybe he shouldn’t go out in public at all. Should Tyson stay off commercial flights? Are you sad you may never get a selfie with him, at least not on a plane? Let us know in the comments.
