Ukraine Intel Chief: Putin Survived An Assassination Attempt

Russian President Vladimir Putin has survived a recent assassination attempt two-months ago that the Kremlin has been trying to cover up, according to the head of Ukraine’s Defense Ministry Main Intelligence Directorate named Kyrylo Budanov.

He made the claims in an interview with Ukrainska Pravda. The intelligence chief did not tell the paper many details about the assassination attempt on the Russian President, but the timeline he pointed to put it about a month into the invasion of Ukraine or approximately two-months ago.

Major General Kyrylo Budanov, chief of the Defense Intelligence of Ukraine, said that there was an assassination attempt on Vladimir Putin.

“He was even attacked in the line of, as they say, representatives of the Caucasus not so long ago,” Budanov said. “This is non-public information. Absolutely unsuccessful attempt, but it really took place… It was about two months ago.”

“Once again, he was unsuccessful,” he continued. “There is no publicity about this event, but it took place.”

The caucuses is a geographical area between the Black and Caspian seas where the countries of Armenia, Azerbaijan, Georgia and pieces of southern Russia are.

There has been no further verification of the claims that there was an assassination attempt at this time, but it would line up with the unpopularity of the Russian invasion and the stories showing Putin seemingly in bad health.

According to Fox News, there have been firebombings of Russian military recruitment centers and several demonstrations have broken out across the country.

Putin has employed a team of people to taste his food and replaced his own personal staff. It could be in response to the alleged assassination attempt, said The Sun.

The attempt occurred quickly after Sen. Lindsey Graham asked for someone to kill Vladimir Putin.

“Is there a Brutus in Russia? Is there a more successful Colonel Stauffenberg in the Russian military?” Graham tweeted on March 3.

The White House put out a statement after Graham’s tweet saying that regime change is not their goal in Russia.

“That is not the position of the United States government and certainly not a statement you’d hear come from the mouth of anybody working in this administration,” former Press Secretary Jen Psaki said at the time.

Psaki added, “No, we are not advocating for killing the leader of a foreign country or a regime change. That is not the policy of the United States.”

In 2017, Putin told director Oliver Stone during the filming of his “Putin Interviews” that he has survived at least five assassination attempts to this date.

Do you think that the news is true that someone tried to kill Putin two months ago?
