Border Patrol agents and police officers took out a mass shooter who killed at least 18 students and three adults during a mass shooting at an elementary school in Texas this week.
The shooting took place at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde when 18-year-old gunman, Salvador Ramos, shot his own grandmother before storming the school and opening fire on the young students.
The shooter then engaged in a fire fight with local Border Patrol agents before he drove a pickup truck into the school, ran in and then barricaded himself inside.
Uvalde Mayor Don McLaughlin told Fox News that the first shots were fired off site and one person was shot, presumably the grandmother. This triggered the firefight with border patrol, before the gunman barricaded himself inside the school and started shooting.
Police arrived onsite and assisted the Border Patrol agents. The law enforcement officers initially reported that he had been arrested before later confirming that Ramos had died during the fight.
“When parents drop their kids off at school, they have every expectation to know that they’re going to be able to pick their child up when that school day ends,” Governor Abbott said.
Parents were seen at the scene frantically searching for their children amidst the chaos. Multiple children still remain seriously injured after the shooting.
It’s always tragic when innocent people die at the hands of a madman. What do you think could be done to help prevent so many people from losing their lives in an incident like this?
