In a shocking twist, host of the View Whoopi Goldberg came to the defense of a top Trump campaign official and White House aide after fans on the show became upset.
The surprise came this week as former top Trump official Kellyanne Conway appeared on the popular TV show to promote her new book, “Here’s the Deal”.
The conversation quickly turned to the 2020 election, specifically Trump’s disbelief that he could have lost to Joe Biden. Sunny Hostin, one of the more liberal hosts of the show, challenged Kellyanne, quoting “lie counters” and referencing “the big lie”.
“I think by tend of the term Donald Trump had accumulated 30,570 lies during his presidency, but I want to talk about the big lie,” the host said. “The stolen election. You write that Trump was more shocked about losing in 2020 than he was about winning in 2016, that he couldn’t comprehend how he lost to Joe Biden. People around him lied to him and told him he won. Did you lie to him about winning?”
Kellyanne then fired back, “Never”.
Hostin then tried to force Kellyanne to say Trump lost the popular vote and the electoral college, to which she responded that it’s “obvious Joe Biden is the President” before mentioning that nobody wanted a 2nd Trump presidency more than her.
Conway then infuriated the crowd, saying “He should have won huge, he had all these accomplishments. He’s running against a guy who’s stuck in the basement, and you’re in the middle of the pandemic –”
The liberal leaning audience immediately erupted in boos. That’s when Whoopi finally stepped in.
“Let me do something before you say anything else. Listen, this is ‘The View.’ And this is her view and she’s talking about how she feels and what she knows, please don’t boo her.”
Not one to shy away from controversy, Kellyanne Conway quipped “I think they’re booing Biden staying in the basement.”
Conway, along with Steve Bannon, has often been credited with the success of Trump’s 2016 campaign, especially following the Access Hollywood scandal. She has claimed in her recent book that Jared Kushner had mismanaged the 2020 campaign, leading ultimately to Trump’s underperformance against sitting President Joe Biden.
Do you think Trump should consider bringing back Kellyanne Conway for his likely run in 2024? Do you think she could help lead him to victory again?
