Democrat Rep. Eric Swalwell (R-CA) was interviewed on MSNBC and asked by Nicole Wallace questions about how America should proceed after the mass shooting in Uvalde, Texas.
“What’s going to protect [students] is to not allow dangerous people to have access to firearms … to not allow assault weapons in the community … This is by design that [mass shootings] happen, it’s not a defect at all,” Swalwell said.
Swalwell started the interview, “The public is with us and parents want us on offense. Look at the republicans. They go on offense on wildly unpopular issues like taking away a woman’s right to choose and they don’t care about the public sentiment. they lean in on that.”
“We’re always, always apologizing about well we’re not trying to infringe on the second amendment and we’re not trying to have gun control. Why don’t we just have gun discipline in this country? The crazy idea that the most dangerous weapons shouldn’t end up in the hands of the most dangerous people.”

Last week, Eric Swalwell tweeted about his 4-year-old child’s reaction to the mass shooting in Buffalo, New York.
He continued to say that all American parents are lying to their kids about being safe. He then invoked his two children as the reason we need gun control laws in this country.
“My 4-year-old just FaceTimed to ask what I’m doing to ‘help the people in Buffalo’ and ‘why did the bad man do this?’ Absolutely gutting,” the Democrat tweeted. “This cannot be his normal. It’s time to BAN ASSAULT WEAPONS. #EndGunViolence.”
Swalwell previously made national news headlines for being pictured with an outed Chinese spy in the United States at several political events. He is the representative for California’s 15th congressional district.
