Liz Cheney Announces Reelection, Gets Really Bad Polling

Republican Representative Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) announced her reelection bid on Thursday, and according to polling, she has an uphill battle to win her incumbency.

“Some things have to matter,” Cheney said in her announcement video. “American freedom, the rule of law, our founding principles, the foundations of our republic matter. What we do in this election in Wyoming matters. I’m asking for your vote because this is a fight we must win.”

The poll showed Cheney down by 30 points to Wyoming attorney Harriet Hageman. It was carried out by conservative group Club for Growth, who plans to oppose Cheney in the election, and the poll was conducted this week by WPA Intelligence headed by pollster Chris Wilson.

See What Liz Cheney Just Tested Positive For

Hageman, who was recruited and endorsed by former President Trump, received 56 percent support and Cheney received 26 percent in the GOP primary poll. Anthony Bouchard got 12 percent, and 6 percent of GOP voters were undecided.

Club for Growth has opposed Trump in other races, but they align with the former President in ousting Cheney from office. Club has not endorsed Hagemen at this point.

Cheney chose to try for reelection this cycle – while her only other GOP comrade on the January 6 House select committee, Adam Kinzinger (R-Illinois) chose to retire. It was likely he would have seen similar polling.

This information comes right after the news that Cheney had been diagnosed positive in a test. She was jabbed and boosted and discussed in a statement to the press this week.

Trump is flying to Wyoming this Saturday to hold a rally for Hageman so that she can oust Cheney. She is a trial lawyer who previously ran for governor and came in third place in 2018.

Club for Growth polled Wyoming earlier this year and found that 52 percent of GOP primary voters in the state were going to vote against Cheney no matter who ran against her.

In a video Cheney put out on Thursday for her announcement, she said that she refused to “surrender to pressure or intimidation.” In the video, she points to her Wyoming roots as the reason voters should choose her.

“If our generation does not stand for truth, the rule of law and our Constitution, if we set aside our founding principles for the politics of the moment, the miracle of our constitutional republic will slip away,” she said. “We must not let that happen.”

Cheney will have a large war chest going into her race and will be able to stand up to attacks on the airwaves. She raised $2.94 million in the first quarter of 2022. She has fundraised $10 million total and had $6.8 million on hand as reported on April 11, 2022 in Politico.

Do you think Cheney will win her primary election? Would you vote for her if you lived in Wyoming? Tell us your thoughts.

  • Can't imagine Wyoming wanting her as their voice in Congress. She's certifiable mean! Look into her eyes and tell me she's a good person. NOT!! Look at her votes in Congress and tell me she's a good person from Wyoming. NOT!!! One thing only is she good at: taking money from those who trust her ability to twist arms for more money.
    Yuck. Wyoming deserves better.

  • All of her campaigns money is coming from outside the state, from blue states. She's no conservative just another swamp creature.
