Most people are aware of the terrible tragedy that took place on Tuesday at Robb Elementary School in Uvalde, Texas. 19 elementary school students and two teachers were killed by an 18 year old mad man.
Shocking news has come out since the investigation into the incident. It now appears that the mad man was inside the school for 40 to 60 minutes before he was shot and killed by a Border Patrol agent.
The Uvalde Police Department Chief Daniel Rodriguez released a statement Thursday saying its officers responded “within minutes,” alongside school district officers.” But parents of children at the school, who hurried there as soon as they knew what was happening, are painting a very different picture.
Fox News has reported that “Angeli Rose Gomez, a parent of two children in second and third grade at Robb Elementary, told The Wall Street Journal that Texas Rangers arrested her for intervening in an active situation after she and other parents urged police to enter the school building while the suspect was believed to be inside.
“The police were doing nothing,” she reportedly said. “They were just standing outside the fence. They weren’t going in there or running anywhere.”
Since the terrible tragedy, videos have been posted that seem to prove what the parents are now reporting.
Juan Carranza, who lives across the street from Robb Elementary School, reportedly said he saw and heard parents shouting at officers to “Go in there! Go in there!” He said the officers did not go in.

“Javier Cazares, whose fourth-grade daughter, Jacklyn Cazares, was killed in the attack, said he raced to the school when he heard about the shooting, arriving while police were still gathered outside the building,” reported Fox News. Fox continued, “[u]pset that police were not moving in, he raised the idea of charging into the school with several other bystanders. ‘They were unprepared,'” he said.
As the investigation continues, more will be learned about what happened in the extended period of time when the gunman was inside the school but officers were not. What should happen to these officers if they did not attempt to stop the killer sooner?
