Representative Liz Cheney (R-Wyoming) tested positive for the virus on Wednesday, she said in a statement.
Cheney said that her symptoms were mild and that she plans on following CDC guidance. The lone Wyoming representative is fully jabbed and boosted.
“While I am fully vaccinated and boosted, I received a positive test result for COVID-19 early Wednesday morning. I am currently experiencing mild symptoms and will follow the CDC’s guidance as I continue to work on behalf of the people of Wyoming,” Cheney wrote in the statement.
At the end of it, she asked for prayers to be sent to the people of Uvalde, Texas after the mass shooting there.
“I continue to pray for the people of Uvalde, TX, especially the mothers and fathers who have lost their little children in this horrific attack,” Cheney wrote.
This news came right before news that Cheney had filed for reelection on Friday. Initial polling show her trailing her opponent badly.
Cheney has caught the ire of Trump supporting Republicans because of her involvement with the House select committee investigating the events on January 6, 2021. She is one of two Republicans that sits on the committee and has called Trump “a threat we have never faced before — a former president attempting to unravel our constitutional republic.”

Her positive result comes about two weeks before the J6 committee is set to hold its first public hearing. They have eight total scheduled. It is unclear if this will affect her attendance at this time.
Cheney also accepted an award this week: The Robert F. Kennedy Profile in Courage Award. She was seen maskless at the award event, which was held in person. Watch the footage below.
