Un-Woke Top Gun: Maverick Slays At Box Office

There’s a lot of “woke” coming out as “entertainment” these days. From Disney to Netflix, we seem to get a lot of lectures masquerading as entertainment. Finally, however, there’s a standout, and it’s doing amazing: it’s Top Gun: Maverick.

Top Gun: Maverick, starring Tom Cruise, was released less than a week ago, but it is already killing it. In fact, reports Breitbart news, “Top Gun: Maverick broke [Cruise’s] opening day record with a $51 million haul. His previous record was Mission: Impossible—Fallout’s $23 million.”

The movie is a sequel to the original Top Gun that was released in 1986 and was also a hit. People are loving the sequel, which isn’t always the case with sequels. The reason it is doing so well is because it’s “…a masculine, pro-American, stridently non-woke blockbuster…[.]”

According to Hollywood In Toto’s Christian Toto, the sequel even outdoes the original. Toto says of the movie, “[t]he ageless star is in full control of his film destiny, and he clearly helped “Maverick” avoid most, if not all, of the culture war booby traps. No hand wringing over military might or extended emasculation of its rugged hero, for starters. No lectures on America’s imperfect past or gender inequality. And, suffice to say, Top Gun: Maverick isn’t woke in the slightest. It is, though, a testament to American excellence and the ability to achieve a goal no matter the odds.”

Another person described the movie this way, in a Tweet: “Top Gun: Maverick has an insanely good final act – deservedly reaches god-tier sequel status. Cruise’s most human, most emotional & mortal film. Kosinski’s aerial combat sequences are as finely directed as they come. Such a likeable ensemble too. Blockbuster of the year.”

Wow! These are about as good of reviews as have been given in quite some time. To not be lectured by liberals and to see patriotism as it used to be sounds phenomenal. Are you going to rush out and see Top Gun: Maverick?
