Ilhan Omar Rips Media In Front Of “30,000 Muslims”

In a speech to the Islamic Circle of North America’s (ICNA) convention, Democratic Minnesota Rep. Ilhan Omar blamed media for spreading “Islamophobia” in the U.S. The conference was also attended by Minnesota Attorney General Keith Ellison.

Omar used her speech as a bully pulpit against the press. She openly discussed how the media is biased against Muslims and that their coverage does not represent the faith worldwide. It’s anti-media bent is sure to get some dislike in the left-wing press, too.

At one point, Omar references that over 30,000 Muslims are in attendance at the conference. Watch her statements below and her bashing of the media and her plans to begin dominating the newsroom for Muslims.

“There isn’t a single Wikipedia page that you can open about a Muslim leader, in the U.S. and abroad, where you will not read something so atrocious that you do not want to associate yourself with them. It doesn’t matter which article you read about this convention, every single Muslim convention, about me, every other leader, you will be shocked to see what people are saying about us, and how we actually see ourselves,” Omar said.

“And I think about why that is. Because often times we have allowed people to develop a narrative about who we are, what our faith stands for, and how we should show up in society. And that, I think, is injustice that we have done, to ourselves and our community and to our faith,” she impassioned.

Watch Ilhan Omar’s full speech at the 2:47 mark.

“And if you are not, as the saying goes, many politicians use this, ‘if you are not at the table, you are on the menu.’ So when we, as Muslims, are not in those newsrooms, shaping the narrative and telling our own story of who we are, someone else is,” she continued.

In 2019, PJ media reported that the conference by ICNA-MAS hosted Georgetown professor and Muslim convert Jonathan Brown. He previously defended rape and sex slavery sanctioned under Sharia law.

Another man invited in 2019, Imam Omar Suleiman once called homosexuality a “disease” and a “repugnant shameless sin.”

Another of their previous speakers, Abdul Nasir Jangda described Jews as “the enemy” and “really bad people” who were “very hateful, very spiteful.”

Omar serves as the congresswoman for Minnesota’s 5th congressional district. The announcer at the convention introduced Omar as a fighter and a hero to Muslims in America before she came out.

Omar previously came under fire for marrying her lover and political consultant in 2020 after breaking it off with the father of her children. She initially denied the affair but a marriage license eventually proved otherwise.
