Swalwell Says GOP Should Go To Uvalde Shooter’s Funeral, Gohmert Angrily Retorts

Rep. Eric Swalwell (D-CA) spoke out at the House Judiciary meeting on gun violence and laid out his proposals for gun control in a viral video where he gratuitously smeared Republicans. His comments were immediately met with consternation from Rep. Louie Gohmert (R-TX).

Flanked by the pictures of the 19 slain children from Robb Elementary school, Swalwell accused Republicans of being supporters of the Uvalde shooter because of their support for the Second Amendment.

Congressman Louie Gohmert immediately responded to Swalwell’s statements at the hearing on Thursday. He claimed that Democrat policies have “gotten people killed” in reference to Democrat policies enforced in Chicago and other major cities. Watch his comments at the 5-minute mark in the following video.

“How dare you? You think we don’t have hearts,” Gohmert said. “We care about people. We care about their lives and lives that have been so trivialized. We care deeply. How dare you? How dare you? You arrogant people attributing murder to those of us who want to do something to stop it.”

Swalwell also recently posted a photo of Rep. Greg Steube (R-FLA) holding a gun and used the photo as his proof that Republicans are a danger to children. He’s really been on a crusade for gun control recently.

“This is who Republicans are. Kids are being buried and they’re bragging about how many guns they own during our gun safety hearing. They are not serious. They are a danger to our kids.”

Swalwell was previously roasted online for a post on May 16, where he wrote, “My 4-year-old just FaceTimed to ask what I’m doing to “help the people in Buffalo” and “why did the bad man do this?” Absolutely gutting. This cannot be his normal. It’s time to BAN ASSAULT WEAPONS.”

Many accused the congressman of using his children as props to push gun control and began using different satirical versions of his post to mock him.

Do you think Swalwell went way over the top attacking Republicans this way? How would you describe Swalwell in one word? Let us know your thoughts.
