White House press secretary Karine Jean-Pierre addressed reporters on Tuesday and used her time to gaslight the American public about economy under Biden. She also apologized for holding a short 10-minute briefing during her other presser this week and promised to give reporters more questions and answers.

However, she refused to talk about the economy and only said one statement on it: “What we’re trying to say, what I’m trying to say to you, is that the economy is in a better place than it has been historically.”

“He’s doing his part in trying to make sure that the American people are feeling the impact less,” she continued describing Biden’s sentiments on the economy.

Last month, former SEC chief, Larry Harris, said that a recession is “likely,” according to NBC, in stark contrast to Jean-Pierre’s statements.

“It’s very hard to stop inflation without a recession,” said Harris about the economy.

However, her statements perfectly mirror Biden’s statements that morning in a tweet.

“The fact is America is in a stronger economic position today than just about any other country in the world. Independent experts have even projected that the U.S. economy could grow faster than China’s economy this year. That hasn’t happened since 1976.”

She used the rest of the briefing to discuss gun control legislation and Biden’s position on it. She discussed raising the age to purchase weapons from 18 to 21 years old. She mentioned both the shooter in Uvalde, Texas and in Buffalo, New York, were 18 when they purchased the weapons they used in their attacks as the reasoning for this.

After only 10-minutes, Jean-Pierre left the briefing room while a reporter yelled, “Guys, we need a longer briefing.”

Republican operatives on Twitter pointed toward her refusal to answer questions on the economy as bad optics.

A large part of the press briefing that day was dominated by Mathew McConaughey who pushed for gun control legislation to promote “responsible gun ownership” in America. He was native born in Uvalde, Texas where the shooting at Robb Elementary took place.

In an op-ed published this week, McConaughey called for all gun purchases to require a background check, make the minimum purchase of AR-15’s be 21 federally, implement red flag laws, and begin a national waiting period for assault rifles.
