Without opposition this time from their Democrat Governor, Louisiana’s legislature has passed The Fairness in Women’s Sports Act. Now biological boys and men will not be allowed to compete with biological girls and women in athletics in Louisiana.
The law, which bans transgender females from competing in female sports was vetoed by Governor John Bel Edwards last year. This year, however, Governor Edwards agreed not to approve or veto the bill. The original bill banned transgender females from playing female sports in K-12 and college competitions but was amended to remove the ban from intramural sports after Governor Edwards’ veto. So transgender females will be able to participate in intramural sports with biological females in Louisiana.
Of course, LGBTQ advocates said the law is transphobic. “SB 44 is a direct attack on transgender youth that are trying their best to just be kids, and fit in with and play alongside their peers,” said the Human Rights Campaign (HRC), reports Breitbart. “Trans kids, like all kids across the country, have said themselves that they play sports for the same reasons all kids do: to be part of a team, to learn discipline, and above all, to have fun with their friends,” it continued.
The issue, however, is with competition in athletics. Some transgender athletes are supportive of laws like the one in Louisiana, because they understand that a biologically male body is much different than a biologically female body, even if the person in the body decides to be the other gender. Transgender golfer Mianne Bagger, who competed in the Women’s Australian Open after transitioning in 1995, has called it “utter rubbish” that “male-bodied” transgender athletes have been allowed to compete alongside women in professional sports, reports Breitbart. “Male-bodied people presenting as women, who live as women, with varying degrees of medical intervention and in some degrees, no medical intervention, which is just — it’s crossed the line, in my view, it really has … It’s a slap in the face to women.”
One twitter user put it this way: “Louisiana joined a growing number of states that have banned the rainbow warriors from screwing up womens sports! They should probably keep training for the inevitable pride Olympics, which I expect to be announced at any moment!”

Caitlyn Jenner, who won a Gold medal in the 1976 Olympics as Bruce Jenner has also come out against transgender females competing in women’s sports. They said “I don’t think biological boys should compete in women’s sports — we have to protect women’s sports. That’s the bottom line.”
While LGBTQ supporters will continue to say that conservatives are transphobic haters, the truth is that we just want fairness for biological females who want to compete in athletics. While Jenner and Bagger clearly understand this, others refuse to acknowledge the biological differences in the sexes. If you are female, would you want to have to compete against biological males who have changed genders? How is that fair?
