Sen. Stabenow Brags About Driving Past High Gas Prices In her Electric Vehicle

Senator Debbie Stabenow (D-MI) bragged about her electric vehicle in a statement where she said that gas prices “don’t matter” to her. She said this while many Americans are paying the highest gas prices they’ve ever paid at the pump. She said that Americans need to purchase electric vehicles to combat this.

“On the issue of gas prices – after waiting for a long time to have enough chips in this country to finally get my electric vehicle – I got it and drove it from Michigan to here this last weekend and went by every gas station and it didn’t matter how high it was,” the senator proclaimed.

Watch her say it in the first 40 seconds of the video.

Gas in Michigan currently costs $5.17 per gallon, according to AAA.

“I’m looking forward to the opportunity for us to move to vehicles that aren’t going to be dependent on the whims of the oil companies and the international markets,” she continued while wearing her flashy green blazer.

Rep. Byron Donalds (R-FL) immediately knocked her, “DEMs continue to laugh at the struggles of working-class Americans who are suffering due to Biden’s Price Hike. Just look at how happy Debbie Stabenow is when boasting about driving her EV. I can assure you Michiganders aren’t laughing.”

Stabinaw then blamed the economy on President Trump’s tax cuts and said that the Biden administration inherited a mess.

She was quickly roasted on Twitter over her tasteless remarks. Some compared the moment to Marie Antoinette’s “Let them eat cake!”

“Let them buy Teslas!” National Review writer Kyle Smith tweeted in reference.

Tim Young, a Washington Times columnist, wrote, “Everyone listen to this wealthy, elite member of Congress… just go buy an $80,000 electric vehicle and you won’t need to worry about gas prices. Let them eat cake!”

Another columnist at the Washington Times, Tim Murtaugh, wrote, “Did she wave to the peasants as she drove by?”

Stabinaws comments appear hollow at a time when fuel prices are some of the highest they’ve ever been in history. The average price of a gallon of gasoline was $2.46 on the day that Biden took office. By the end of 2021, the price was $3.44. That’s a 40% increase before the war in Ukraine ever happened.

According to Kelly’s Blue Book, the price of the average electric vehicle is $56,437. That’s thousands above the average car price leaving EV’s out of the budgets of many Americans.

On his first day in office, Biden rescinded the Keystone XL pipeline which transports over three-quarters of a million barrels of oil a day.
