New York Rep Elise Stefanik took to the media to blast the Democrat-led commission to investigate January 6 as “illegitimate” for one very good reason.

Appearing on FOX News‘s ‘The Faulkner Focus’ on Wednesday, Stefanik was quick to dive into the issue. According to the Congresswoman, her own constituents have been telling her how little they care about January 6, 2021 when compared to massive inflation and crime.

“I was just home in my district for two weeks, traveling to 10 different counties. And the issues that I heard from my constituents and voters, they were concerned about inflation. They’re concerned about the skyrocketing gas prices,” Stefanik said. “They’re concerned about the increase in crime that we’re seeing not just in New York state, but across America. All of these crises are a direct result of Joe Biden and Nancy Pelosi and House Democrats’ failed agenda. “

She then said the real point of the commission is essentially to deflect from Biden’s numerous failings.

“And what do the Democrats want to talk about? They want to talk about January 6th.”

Congresswoman Stefanik said the whole debacle could essentially be discounted as illegitimate after Nancy Pelosi forced the Republican-picked members from the committee. She then “replaced” the 5 Republicans with her own selection of only 2 anti-Trump members, Adam Kissinger and Liz Cheyney.

“But importantly, their committee is not focused on finding out why the Capitol was so ill-prepared, why the Capitol Police were not given the training and resources, why they were at half staff on January 6th. These are important questions that Nancy Pelosi and Democrats don’t care about because they kicked the Republican-appointed members off the committee, which is why it’s illegitimate.”

Had Republicans been allowed to serve on the Committee, their selected representatives would have included Jim Banks (R-IN) as Ranking Member, and minority members Jim Jordan (R-OH), Rodney Davis (R-IL), Kelly Armstrong (R-ND), and Troy Nehls (R-TX).

Stefanik has seen her own popularity rise since defending President Trump during the 1st impeachment over alleged “Russian collusion”. She is currently running unopposed in the Republican primary. She has a voter registration advantage of roughly 140,000 Democrats to 209,000 Republicans.

If Congresswoman Stefanik has political ambitions beyond Congress, she is setting herself up well to achieve them. How high would you like to see her go? Could you see her becoming Governor or even President someday?
