Representative Adam Schiff called for the Department of Justice to begin criminal investigations into former President Trump based on the January 6 Committee’s investigation.
“I would like to see the Justice Department investigate any credible allegation of criminal activity on the part of Donald Trump or anyone else,” Schiff told ABC‘s Martha Raddatz on Sunday.
When pressed on what his committee has collected but have not yet shown to the public, however, Congressman Schiff got much more vague, referring to “lines of effort” instead of real evidence.
“There are certain actions, parts of these different lines of effort to overturn the [2020] election, that I don’t see evidence the Justice Department is investigating.”
Adam Schiff then gave possibly the most telling statement about his Committee’s year long investigation. He said the evidence would be accumulated by the DOJ, not the investigative committee.
“Once the evidence is accumulated by the Justice Department, it needs to make a decision about whether it can prove to a jury beyond a reasonable doubt the president’s guilt or anyone else’s,” he said.
One major reveal that the California Congressman did make during the segment, however, is that the committee has allegedly collected proof of US Congressmen asking former President Trump for pardons surrounding their actions on January 6. He didn’t go into any details on who or what they did exactly.
Still, it’s hard to know how seriously to take Schiff and his allies when they pepper in little statements like, “But they need to be investigated if there’s credible evidence, which I think there is.
As the January 6th Committee hearings continue next week, the Democrats seem to be hanging their 2020 election hopes on their success with viewers. The committee members keep saying this will change American history. Do you think they will deliver or are they just blowing smoke up our “you know where(s)”?
