A self-described pro-life Spiderman was arrested while scaling a 50-story skyscraper in Oklahoma this week in protest against abortion.
The anti-abortion activist Maison Des Champs, 22, reached the top of the 844 ft tall Devon Tower, the tallest building in Oklahoma without using climbing gear. Police quickly arrested him shortly after.
On his fundraising page, Des Champs said his goal is to raise $1m and take down a certain abortion doctor.
“Hi, my name is Maison Des Champs. I am a rock climber that has recently started climbing Skyscrapers to end abortion. The goal is to get (The doctor) put and jail and raise $1,000,000 for pro-life charities.”
His website also references the same doctor but describes his reason for climbing as to help a girl named Riley save her child from an abortion before the pills she ordered arrive.
“Riley was hoping for a lasting relationship, then she suddenly found out she was pregnant. Her boyfriend made it clear that commitment is the last thing he wants and has since cut all ties with Riley. Now she is 10-weeks along and has ordered abortion pills, which are expected to arrive this Friday, June 17th,” the site reads before going on to say her boyfriend is making her get the abortion.
Des Champs had previously climbed the Sales Force Tower in San Francisco, California to protest the same doctor, who he claims was involved in 5 late-term abortions.
Interestingly, Des Champs claims that his climbs are mostly legal despite being arrested. His website states, “In most states and cities there are no laws against climbing skyscrapers. Usually, I am charged with some form of trespassing or disorderly conduct. However, after further review, my charges are either dropped or easily fought in court.”
While what he is doing appears incredibly dangerous, it is certainly helping to draw even more national attention towards the issue of abortion. What do you think of the Pro-Life Spiderman? Is he doing a good job or has he taken it too far?
