State University of New York, or SUNY, schools have come out as some of the most woke schools in the country. They say, as more schools become less inclusive, they are becoming more. Being in a very liberal state, this should not come as a surprise.
In an effort to be seen as the most woke state university system in the country, students at SUNY schools will, by Fall 2023, be able to use their preferred names and pronouns on official campus records, including school profiles and even their diplomas, reports Fox News.
In a statement, SUNY interim chancellor Deborah F. Stanley said “[a]n inclusive chosen name and pronoun policy doesn’t only help students feel safer on campus—it is also a matter of respect. This is the next concrete step toward ensuring SUNY’s current and future transgender, gender non-conforming, and non-binary students feel embraced and uplifted. To those students and families who are seeing an unprecedented effort to roll back LGBTQIA+ rights and opportunities in other states, we want you to know that New York State and SUNY’s 64 colleges and universities intend only to move forward.”
New York Governor, Kathy Hochul, said this about the new state school policy: “Every person, regardless of their gender identity or the name they choose to go by, deserves to have identity documentation that reflects who they are. This historic change by the SUNY system is a victory in our ongoing fight to ensure that New York is a place of love and belonging. My administration remains committed to taking the steps necessary to ensure equality and respect for the LGBTQIA+ community.”
Recently, former Hawaii Representative and Democratic Party presidential candidate Tulsi Gabbard spoke with Greg Gutfeld about what the New York schools are doing and said this: “Gov. Kochul’s (sic) new mandated “pronoun policy” for SUNY campuses is another example of “woke” fascism, where our universities are being used to indoctrinate rather than educate. This is not about inclusivity, this is about forced conformity.”
Additionally, students at SUNY schools will be able to put an “X” when asked for their gender. New York already allows people to do this on their drivers’ licenses.
Gutfeld and Gabbard make excellent points. While violent crime and homelessness are rampant, at least in New York City, if not elsewhere in the state, the Governor chooses to focus on pronouns. The policy will do nothing but indoctrinate young people, who will feel forced to go along with it. Not to mention what this could do to further identity crime. If everyone can just pick a new name and gender, it will become easy to hide, thus furthering crime. Do liberals ever think through what they do?
