Biden Goes to “Battle” with “MAGA Laws” and Ron DeSantis

President Joe Biden held a press conference Wednesday afternoon where he declared war on “ultra MAGA laws” like Florida’s so-called “Don’t Say Gay” bill.

Biden, who held the press conference shortly after his administration announced a massive rate hike, said he was targeting 300 of the alleged “Ultra MAGA laws” that focused on LGBTQ+. The announcement was intended to be part of a Gay Pride Month celebration.

“I don’t have to tell you about the ultra-MAGA agenda, attacking families and our freedoms. Three hundred discriminatory bills introduced in states across this country…” the sitting president said as he stumbled through the speech.

He then mentioned Texas’s proposal proposal which classified “gender affirming procedures”, such as puberty blockers and hormones, as a form of child abuse, triggering an investigation from the state.

“In Texas, knocking on front doors to harass and investigate parents who are raising transgender children.”

He also dug into Florida Governor Ron DeSantis after he actively removed Disney’s special tax status in Florida.

Biden decried, “In Florida going after Mickey Mouse for God’s sake.”

Last month DeSantis and the Florida legislature removed a special status that allowed Disney to self-govern the entire city where Disney World is under their own, corporate laws.

Disney was initially criticized by the left for not opposing the “Don’t Say Gay” bill that stops teachers from discussing sexuality and gender identity to students before they enter the 4th grade. Disney then declared unilaterally that they would use their position to push back against the Florida law and similar laws that could be passed in the future.

In response to the declaration by the media giant, DeSantis immediately moved to remove their special governing status in the state, which Democrats painted as “going after Mickey Mouse”.

The new executive orders (EO) signed by Biden today would help schools avoid state laws like the ones Biden mentioned as well as “conversion therapy”. Since it’s an EO and not an actual law passed by Congress, however, the most they can do is direct resources to help agencies find ways around the laws, then have the agencies inform the schools of the processes they find.

Despite the limitations, Biden seemed confident in his plan to push back against these alleged “anti-gay” laws.

The sitting President declared, “We’re in a battle for the very soul of this nation. And that’s not hyperbole. We’re in a battle for the soul of the nation. When I look around this room here and all you hear today, it’s a battle I know we will win.”

While the audience at the event seemed excited for the announcements targeting the “Ultra MAGA Laws”, the average American has to wonder if they were remotely genuine. If the Democrats really cared so much about gay rights, then why did they wait for Gay Pride Month to act when they could have done all of this earlier?
