Elon Musk Pushes For More Free Speech At Twitter Meeting

On Thursday during a meeting of all Twitter staff, Elon Musk spoke with employees of the company about free speech and his plans for Twitter.

“I think it’s essential to have free speech and … be able to communicate freely,” Musk said in an edited video of his remarks published by Project Veritas. “If there are multiple opinions … just make sure that we’re not sort of driving a narrative.”

Twitter’s CMO Leslie Berland can be seen in the video asking Musk about his politics. He responds that he is a “moderate” who is “in favor of moderate politics.”

He expounded by saying that he’s open to allowing more controversial views on Twitter than the ones he holds.

“But, you know, allowing people who have, like, relatively extreme views to express their views within the bounds of the law,” Musk said. “You know, it’s free speech within the context of the law. So I’m not suggesting that we just flout the law because we’ll get shut down in that case.”

Elon Musk attended the meeting virtually.

He did seem to be in favor of some shadow banning – but he called it by a different name. He said that wants “freedom of speech” but doesn’t necessarily want “freedom of reach,” meaning that he is open to not allowing “outrageous things” to get amplified and get “a ton of reach.”

“I think an important goal for Twitter would really try to include as much of the country, as much of the world as possible,” Musk said. “I think the potential is there for Twitter to be accessible to an order of magnitude, more people.”

“Let’s say the far left 10% and far right 10% were equally upset on Twitter, then that will probably be a good outcome… The standard is much more than not offending people. The standard should be that they’re very entertained and informed,” he continued.

Musks’ buyout has been met with condemnation from many inside the company, and Musk himself has thrown the buyout into chaos. He believes that Twitter has too many bots on the platform and accused the company of hiding the number.

Earlier, Musk “paused” the buyout until he can determine how many bots are on Twitter. The company has acquiesced and given him exclusive access to their “fire hose” of raw data this month to further the deal proceedings.

Democrats are angry at the billionaire after he tweeted that he voted Republican for the first time ever. He voted for Republican candidate Mayra Flores, who flipped Texas’ 34th district. It’s been in Democrat hands for 150 years until now.

He also responded to a user on Twitter saying that he supports DeSantis running for President in 2024. A comment sure to anger many liberals.

DeSantis responded saying that he welcomes the support of African-Americans.

Elon Musk’s takeover of Twitter is good for free speech and many Conservatives welcome the platform becoming more inclusive to all views. The left has run most tech companies in this country and have used it to get their way in the media and in politics. Are you glad that Musk is taking over twitter or will you be posting on Trump’s truth social instead?
