On Thursday, Obama administration economist Steve Rattner said that President Biden’s spending policies are a key “culprit” behind inflation.
During his interview on MSNBC with Joe Scarborough, the host asked whether it was “utter nonsense” that people blame Biden for inflation.
He noted that there are “several culprits” that lead to inflation, but focused his sights on the $1.9 trillion American rescue plan that Biden passed in 2021.
“There is Biden and what he’s done, and it’s not irrelevant, but it’s…”
“And what is that?” Scarborough asked.
“Well, that is all the spending, basically,” Rattner responded. “The $1,400 tax, the $2 trillion that you and I have talked about a lot that’s on the sidelines, half of that’s government money that we gave people to spend, and now they’re trying to spend it, so you get inflation.”
Rattner also blamed the Fed which he said totally “blew it” in response to the pandemic.
“I love the Fed, but there’s nothing good to say about it,” he stated. “And it is absolutely true that there are unforced problems out there. Putin, I wouldn’t call this Putin’s inflation, but there’s no question that Ukraine and Russia have had a major impact on the inflation.”
Biden has repeatedly rebuked claims his pandemic relief bill caused inflation. He told the AP that the accusations were “bizarre.”
Earlier this week, Rattner praised Joe Manchin for blocking Biden’s massive Build Back Better bill. On Monday, he said that the “$6.5 trillion of spending in this economy would make these [inflation rate] numbers look small.”
The Biden administration is to blame for inflation. They can try and hide that fact as much as they want, but the fact still stands that it has happened under his watch because of his policies. He has turned this country back over 50 years to the era of Jimmy Carter, but this time it’s worse. History really does repeat itself and hopefully it does again when Republicans sweep and take back all the control centers of Government.
