Top Democrat Trashed Gavin Newsom’s Political Ambitions

A former Biden official took aim at California Governor Gavin Newsom this week for his political ambitions and desire to stay relevant.

Cedric Richmond, a former senior advisor to President Biden and director of the White House Office of Public Engagement, specifically called out the high profile governor while speaking about the 2024 election.

Richmond was talking about the upcoming 2024 Presidential election. The topic was specifically about all the politically ambitious Democrats looking to challenge a weak President Biden in the Democrat primary.

“Everybody is trying to be relevant for the next race,” said Cedric Richmond, who now helps to head the DNC. “I think ambition makes people do different things.”

Recently Gavin Newsom has suggested that President Joe Biden isn’t doing enough to fight Republicans on key issues like abortion and gun control. Richmond came to the defense of his former boss, suggesting that Newsom is speaking to a non-existent audience and that nobody cares about his political ambition.

Richmond blasted the Governor of California, saying, “I am not sure they are reading the Gavin Newsom opinion pages about his desire to be politically relevant.”

Gavin Newsom recently survived a Republican recall effort over his pandemic policies that lead to the entire state being shut down. While the conservatives were able to get enough votes to trigger a recall, they failed to field a candidate who could effectively challenge Newsom, leading to a significant victory for the Governor.

Since securing his governorship, Newsom has turned his attention nationally again. This time he has taken aim at a deeply unpopular Joe Biden over his perceived weakness by the Left. The move has been viewed as an attempt by the Californian to build up his reputation before the upcoming Presidential primaries.

Joe Biden’s presidency has been suffering under the weight of his failed policies. Recent polling shows the sitting President maintaining a measly 39% support among voters. This has led many of his former allies to call for him to step down after just one term, something Biden himself has said he isn’t planning on doing. Do you think Democrats would stand a chance in 2024 if Biden stepped down? Would Newsom ever be able to win a national election with his reputation of hardcore liberalism?
