Politically inflammatory Reverend Al Sharpton accused Christian Conservatives of hijacking the Bible to push a political agenda this week.

The outspoken preacher, known for his role in Black empowerment movements, made an appearance on MSNBC’s Morning Joe to talk about the repeal of Roe v Wade and restrictions on abortions in conservative states.

Sharpton railed, “I am incensed and insulted they have hijacked the Bible and Jesus to distort and misquote, well it’s not even a misquote — create quotes that are not there to justify a right-wing kind of ideology that would take away the rights of women and then scheduled to take other people’s rights

“And what is strange to me, Joe, they can see a scripture that is not there about abortion but they couldn’t see love your neighbor when it came down to putting things through that would help the poor and help the needy,” he continued.

Christian conservatives were not the only target of the fiery preacher, who also admonished progressive Democrats for not turning out to vote for Hillary Clinton in 2016 after she supposedly rigged the Democrat primary against Senator Bernie Sanders.

Sharpton said it is their fault that Trump was able to appoint 3 Supreme Court justices and said they are equally to blame as the “distorted Christian language” used by pro-life conservatives.

Reverend Sharpton has never hidden his pro-choice views from the public, often advocating in favor of abortion access in Black communities. He once even compared restricting abortion to “going back to the days of legal apartheid or segregation and divisiveness.”

Despite his position, many Christians of all races still oppose abortion in this country. Do you think Sharpton’s viewpoint is representative of Black Christians’ views on abortion or is he just speaking for himself?
