Bezos Slams Biden On His Gas Prices Statement

Amazon and Blue Origin CEO Jeff Bezos openly criticized President Joe Biden for calling on gasoline companies to lower their prices over the weekend.

In a tweet posted July 2, Biden said, “this is time of war and global peril” and called for gas companies to bring the price of gasoline down “to reflect the cost [they’re] paying.”

“My message to the companies running gas stations and setting prices at the pump is simple: this is a time of war and global peril. Bring down the price you are charging at the pump to reflect the cost you’re paying for the product. And do it now,” Biden wrote in full.

Bezos quickly criticized the message openly on Twitter in an obvious knock at the President.

“Ouch. Inflation is far too important a problem for the White House to keep making statements like this. It’s either straight ahead misdirection or a deep misunderstanding of basic market dynamics,” wrote Bezos as he quote tweeted Biden.

Biden’s Press Secretary Karine Jean-Pierre then responded on twitter and claimed that the price of oil has dropped by $15 per barrel and oil has not come down in price to reflect it – insinuating that oil companies are reaping the profits.

“Oil prices have dropped by about $15 over the past month, but prices at the pump have barely come down. That’s not “basic market dynamics.” It’s a market that is failing the American consumer,” wrote KJP in response.

She then replied under her tweet slamming the Amazon CEO, “But I guess it’s not surprising that you think oil and gas companies using market power to reap record profits at the expense of the American people is the way our economy is supposed to work.”

In May, Bezos blamed the Biden administration for inflation and called the White House statement “misdirection.”

When the nation’s biggest CEOs start to questioning you openly. It’s a sign that you might be running things poorly. Not that you can outright trust their statements, but Bezos coming out and criticizing this openly Biden is a big deal – even he must be feeling the pinch of the high gas prices and inflation. Do you think Bezos would help out the Conservatives in the next election?
