One of the hosts of the daytime talk show The View came to the defense of the US Supreme Court after it was previously attacked by President Joe Biden.
The segment began with Joy Behar questioning why anyone would criticize Joe Biden, saying he had a “promising” agenda that was derailed. She then tried to coin the terms DINOs, Democrat in Name Only, to describe moderate politicians, as well as Mancinema, a combination of moderate Democrat Senators Joe Manchin and Krysten Sinema. These 2 senators have stood in the way of Biden’s more reckless proposals, including suspending the filibuster to legislate abortion rights.
Behar then attempts to explain how Biden is “trying” his best to be president, with her only example being naming a “Black woman”, Kentaji Brown Jackson, to the Supreme Court before adding that there are “many things that he’s done”.
Sara Haines then jumped in, explaining that the criticism of Biden around the issue was fair because no President should criticize the Supreme Court, calling it a “bad look”.
Haines stressed that it’s the job of the President to deal with the decision of the court and figure out legal remedies within his power to deal with it, not to attack the other branches. She also hinted that she was disturbed by the DOJ’s involvement in the issue.
The View host was referring to a statement Biden had previously made about the Court’s ruling to reverse Roe v Wade and end national abortion protections. Biden said, “The one thing that has been destabilizing [the world] is the outrageous behavior of the Supreme Court.”
The rest of the hostesses jumped back into the conversation after Sara Haines’s statement, defending the right of the DOJ to issue legal challenges in states with anti-abortion “trigger laws”. Sunny Hostin even praised McConnell’s political gamesmanship around the filibuster, questioning why Biden was incapable of doing the same.
Last week Joe Biden publicly called on Senate Democrats to suspend the legislative filibuster and pass national abortion protections on party lines. Within minutes of his speech both Manchin and Sinema issued statements rejecting his request. Do you think Biden will fold and try to implement a more radical plan like abortion clinics in national parks or will he just pass it off until the November election?
