Pope Issues Official Verdict on Roe v Wade Decision

Pope Francis issued an official statement concerning the Supreme Court of the United State’s recent decision to reverse Roe V Wade.

The Holy Father of Roman Catholicism declared that he “respect the decisions” of the Court to end abortion protections in the US.

The pope did admit that he was personally unsure of the legal issues surrounding the case and the original Roe v Wade ruling, saying, “I tell you the truth. I don’t understand it from a technical point of view. I have to study it because I don’t really understand [the details of] the ruling 50 years ago and now I can’t say whether it did right or wrong from a judicial point of view.”

Despite the legal stance, however, the Pope clarified his position on abortion.

According to the Supreme Pontiff, abortion is still “a problem.” He explained how even modern science backs up the notion that a fetus is a human life, at least after 30 days, saying, “Science today and any book on embryology, the one our medical students study, tells you that 30 days after conception there is DNA and the laying out already of all the organs.”

Pope Francis then suggested that the United States needs to reframe the question of abortion based on that science. According to him, the issue isn’t whether or not it’s alive, but instead whether or not it’s okay to kill another person to solve “a problem”.

“Is it legitimate, is it right, to eliminate a human life to resolve a problem? It’s a human life – that’s science. The moral question is whether it is right to take a human life to solve a problem,” the Pope questioned.

The Catholic church has long stood against abortion. Multiple churches in the United States have even banned Democrat politicians like Nancy Pelosi from receiving communion over their stances on abortion.

Francis, on the other hand, has refused to join their movement. Instead he gave communion to Pelosi and her husband when they visited the Vatican. Despite the obvious hypocrisy in his actions, the Vatican has long maintained a stance of remaining neutral on foreign political issues.

The new statements by the Pope are his strongest yet in opposition to abortion. Do you believe he wants to redefine life as beginning at 30 days or was he simply using that as an example?
