Since the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade about three weeks ago, sending the decision back to the states, where it belongs, to legislate about the legality of abortion, a terrible story has been tossed about. The story is about a ten year old girl who was allegedly raped and became pregnant, and was taken across state lines to obtain an abortion.

On Wednesday, the Columbus Dispatch reported that “a Columbus man has been charged with impregnating [the] 10-year-old Ohio girl.” Specifically, they said, “Gerson Fuentes, 27, whose last known address was an apartment on Columbus’ Northwest Side, was arrested Tuesday after police say he confessed to raping the child on at least two occasions. He’s since been charged with rape, a felony of the first degree in Ohio.”

Detective Jeffrey Huhn testified Wednesday morning at Fuentes’ arraignment, that Columbus Police learned of the alleged rape after receiving a referral from Franklin County Children’s Services. The ten year old girl’s mother had reported the rape on June 22, two days before the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade. Detective Huhn also said that the girl obtained a medical abortion on June 30 at a clinic in Indianapolis.

“Huhn also testified that DNA from the clinic in Indianapolis is being tested against samples from Fuentes, as well as the child’s siblings, to confirm contribution to the aborted fetus,” the Columbus Dispatch reported.

The judge, Cynthia Ebner, said the case did not warrant the defendant to be held with no bond but did say a high bond was warranted because it is suspected that the defendant is “undocumented” so he may be a flight risk. She also cited the safety of the child victim as a reason for a high bond. The court set a $2 million bond and Fuentes is being held in the county jail.

This story first came out, then garnered national, and even international, attention after an activist, obstetrician-gynecologist named Dr. Caitlin Bernard spoke to the Indianapolis Star about it. Then, with very little corroboration of the story, Joe Biden used it to support his Executive Order that attempts to maintain abortion access across the country. Some questioned whether there really was a ten year old girl who had been raped and then crossed state lines to obtain an abortion.

Critical to this story, and something that has yet to receive much focus is that it appears that the man who allegedly raped the young girl is an illegal immigrant. The court set a very high bond because he may be “undocumented.” Why is the liberal media not talking about this? Probably because the liberals spreading the story have the agenda of making it about abortion and not about the fact that Biden flung open the borders the second he took office. And not knowing how long Fuentes has allegedly been in the country illegally, the rape, if it is proven that he did it, may never have happened. If it is ultimately proven that Gerson Fuentes raped the ten year old girl and he is in the country illegally, whose fault is this? Should there be an exception for abortion in cases like this?
