Police Discover Homeless Bunker With $100k In Stolen Goods

Police in northern California discovered a massive underground homeless “bunker” filled with over $100,000 in stolen items including weapons.

The San Jose Police Department (SJPD) found the bunker in a local homeless encampment. They were following a lead on stolen goods when they came across the strange and impressive find.

According to the cops, the homeless people in the camp had managed to hook up the bunker to electricity, saying it was likely “plugged into somebody else’s source.”

Inside the bunker, cops found a huge assortment of stolen goods including 3 shotguns with multiple boxes of ammunition, power tools, and actual construction equipment.

One image shows the well kept guns found in the underground facility.

Another image shows a fairly well build wooden room with a notably clean mattress and professional building equipment.

A third image release by the police department shows the bulk of the hardware laid out on the ground including power saws, power drills, fuel, and a nail gun.

The San Jose Police Department announced that they have arrested 6 individuals in connection to the multiple theft. They said the suspects will be brought up on a “variety of charges”.

The police also clarified that they will now attempt to return the over $100,000 worth of goods stolen by the homeless people, saying they “will be returned to the victims, including the locally owned business.”

One local resident expressed concern that there could be other similar bunkers hidden around the city, possibly even filled with more deadly weapons.

“I imagine there are probably several more places like that around town, with just how frequently tools in specific are being taken from construction sites,” resident Ashley King told ABC7 News.

King continued, “To see weapons like that, rifles, stuff that could do damage, serious damage,” she said. “Weapons that could hurt anybody, especially children, from far away, with precision… That is just so incredibly disturbing.”

California has had famously laxed laws when it comes to homeless people, leading to a huge spike in petty theft and vagrancy across the state. Do you think there are more bunkers like this one around the city? What about around the country?
