Alex Murdaugh Indicted For Murder of His Wife and Son

It has been over a year since Maggie Murdaugh and her son Paul were murdered on the property that belonged to Maggie and her lawyer husband Alex Murdaugh. He called the police when, he said, he found them dead. It initially appeared that Alex was a victim, in the sense that he had lost his beloved wife and son.

After a lengthy investigation, however, Alex Murdaugh now stands accused of their murder. South Carolina law enforcement announced Thursday that a “grand jury in Colleton County [has] indicted Murdaugh on two counts of murder and two counts of possession of a weapon during the commission of a violent crime.

Here’s what they had to say about the indictment and the evidence on Court TV:

On July 14, 2022, Alex Murdaugh was indicted on murder charges. South Carolina Law Enforcement Division (SLED) Chief Mark Keel talked about the investigation saying, “Over the last 13 months, SLED agents and our partners have worked day in and day out to build a case against the person responsible for the murders of Maggie and Paul and to exclude those who were not. At no point did agents lose focus on this investigation. From the beginning I have been clear, the priority was to ensure justice was served. Today is one more step in a long process for justice for Maggie and Paul.”

A total of 79 state charges on 15 indictments have been issued against Alex Murdaugh. Attorney General Alan Wilson has said that Alex has defrauded his law firm and clients out of $8,492,888.31. Others have died in or near the Murdaugh hunting property called the Moselle estate and these incidents are still under investigation for possible connections to Alex Murdaugh.

Alex Murdaugh’s lawyers say he has denied having anything to do with his wife and son’s murders. “It was very clear from day one that law enforcement and the Attorney General prematurely concluded that Alex was responsible for the murder of his wife and son,” the statement said, in part. “But we know that Alex did not have any motive whatsoever to murder them.” They added that they’re “immediately filing a motion for a speedy trial,”

Have you seen the 52 school buses that showed up at Sen. Ted Cruz’s home to protest school shootings?

They seemed to have had everything: money, power, and a great family. But things were not what they seemed. Alex Murdaugh was stealing millions from his own family since it was a family law firm. He stole from his clients. He admitted to orchestrating being shot in the head while changing a tire, in some sort of botched assisted suicide! Now, he is accused of murdering his wife and son. Do you think he’s guilty?
