Dems Introduce Bills To Allow Women To Cross State Lines to Get Abortions

“Red” states, like Texas, Tennessee, Oklahoma and many others value the lives of unborn babies. Since Roe was overturned, those states can now save lives by restricting or outright banning abortions. Some legislators in conservative states have proposed fines or even criminal charges for women who cross state lines to obtain abortions. Democrats are trying to make that impossible.

Senate Democrats unveiled the “Freedom to Travel for Health Care Act of 2022” last week, a bill that would protect a woman’s right to go across state lines to get an abortion or contraceptives. The bill was introduced in the Senate by Democrat Senators Patty Murray and Catherine Cortez Masto. Co-sponsors of the bill include Democratic Senators Chuck Schumer, former candidate for POTUS Amy Klobuchar, Dianne Feinstein, Raphael Warnock and Bernie Sanders.

The stated goal of the “Freedom to Travel for Health Care Act of 2022” is to outlaw any attempts to “restrict or in [any[ way sanction, hold liable, discriminate against, or otherwise disadvantage any individual from traveling to another State to receive or provide reproductive health care that is legal in that State.”

Cortez Masto requested consent to quickly pass the legislation but Senator James Lankford objected on behalf of Republicans. He said, “There’s a child in this conversation, as well,” accusing Democrats of trying “to inflame — to raise the what-ifs.” He said anyone who supports the bill should ask themselves: “Does the child in the womb have the right to travel in their future?”

Lankford also tweeted this: “Inflation is 9.1%. Gas is over $5 a gallon in my state. Crime is up. The border is wide open. Yet, Democrats are tripping over themselves in a race to be the most pro-abortion.”

“The House is poised to vote Friday on a similar bill, sponsored by Rep. Lizzie Fletcher, D-Texas, that would protect interstate travel for women seeking abortions where they are legal. The measure is expected to pass, but its prospects are uncertain in the Senate, where at least 10 Republican votes would be needed to defeat a filibuster,” reports NBC News.

Montana Senator Steve Daines said the Dem’s bill is “radical” and would lead to “abortion tourism.”

52 school buses showed up at Sen Ted Cruz’s house to protest guns

Democrats are doing whatever they can to preserve the right for women to get abortions. Republicans are fighting back. Do you think women in states where abortion is banned should be fined or prosecuted if they cross state lines to get an abortion?
