Louisiana Judge Allows Abortion Again

It’s really difficult to keep up these days. For pro-life people, it doesn’t matter, because if you’re pregnant, you will just have the baby. But for anyone who would consider having an abortion, I’m not sure how you’d even keep up with what’s happening in Louisiana much less any other state.

Most recently in Louisiana, at the time of the writing of this article, a judge has blocked the state from banning abortion. In other words, women there can still obtain an abortion in some circumstances.

The legislators of the state of Louisiana want to impose a near-total ban on abortion but state court Judge Donald Johnson has at least temporarily banned them from doing so.

The lead plaintiff, Kathaleen Pittman, in the Louisiana lawsuit that Judge Johnson is allowing to move forward was pleased with the ruling. Pittman said the Hope Medical Group for Women clinic in Shreveport is ready to resume counseling and abortions. Louisiana’s two other clinics are in Baton Rouge and New Orleans.

Louisiana Attorney General Jeff Landry expressed his anger at the court’s order on Twitter, tweeting, “The rule of law must be followed, and I will not rest until it is. Unfortunately, we will have to wait a little bit longer for that to happen.” and “Any society that places themselves before their children (the future) does not last.”

He also tweeted, “The people of Louisiana have spoken both directly at the ballot box and through their elected legislature again and again and again – not only statutorily but also constitutionally,” and “To have the judiciary create a legal circus is disappointing and what discredits the institutions we rely upon for a stable society.”

The case is set to be heard again on Monday, July 18.

52 school buses showed up at Sen. Ted Cruz’s house last week, to protest guns

Pro-life supporters hoped that more lives would be saved once the Supreme Court overturned Roe v. Wade on June 24. That hope is still alive, but what the ruling has done for now is to create a lot more work for a lot of lawyers. The amount of litigation may be never-ending, but at least the unborn have a fighting chance at this point. What do you think about what’s happening in the country regarding abortion?
