Brinks Truck Robbed Near LA, Millions in Jewelry and Gems Stolen

A Brinks armored truck near Los Angeles was robbed recently, with the criminals getting away with jewelry and gems valued at at least $10 million. How are those liberal criminal justice reforms working out for you, California?

The precious items were at an event hosted by the International Gem and Jewelry Show on July 10 in San Mateo, California. They were loaded onto a Brinks truck late on the 10th and were being transported to an exhibit at the Pasadena Convention Center said Brandy Swanson, director of the San Mateo event. The truck was robbed early the next day.

Swanson said between 25 and 30 bags were taken, containing an unknown number of individual pieces. She said 18 victims were reporting more than $100 million in losses. Dana Callahan, speaking for Brinks, said the total items were valued at less than $10 million.

Many of the vendors had undervalued their inventory due to the high cost of insurance and transportation costs. “That’s where the discrepancy comes in. These are mom-and-pop operators”, Swanson said. They had never had an issue transporting their merchandise with Brinks. Swanson continued, “[t]hey’re devastated. Some of these people have lost their entire livelihoods.”

“According to the information the customers provided to us before they shipped their items, the total value of the missing items is less than $10 million,” Brink’s said in a statement. “We are working with law enforcement, and we will fully reimburse our customers for the value of their assets that were stolen, in accordance with the terms of our contract.”

These people are out a lot of money, no matter how you look at it. For many, this was how they fed their families. Here’s what one Twitter user thinks: “Heartbroken about the Intergem Pasadena jewelry heist from a brinks armored car. This is truly tragic! Can we not rely on American private security anymore?Theft is rampant and we need protection to conduct business. I hope for a good turnout by Brinks and the FBI. #Brinks #FBI

The FBI is working with local authorities to investigate the matter.

Victim of anti-white hate crime accused of being Trump supporter

If they want to commit a multi-million dollar jewelry heist and get away with it, criminals know to do so in California. Even if they get caught, they aren’t likely to stay locked up. So where’s the risk? Is that why this happened in California? Tell us what you think in the comments.
