Texas Governor Abbot Tore into DC Mayor Over Migrants

Texas Governor Greg Abbott blasted Washington DC Mayor Muriel Bowser over comments she made concerning undocumented migrants in her state.

On Sunday of this week Mayor Bowser went on CBS News’s Face The Nation to complain about undocumented migrants being bussed to DC from Conservative states like Texas.

According to Bowser, the thousands of bussed migrants have caused the city’s homeless shelters to become overcrowded, which she blamed on Abbott.

“Well, this is a very significant issue,” Bowser said. “We have for sure called on the federal government to work across state lines to prevent people from really being tricked into getting on buses.”

She continued, “I fear that they’re being tricked into nationwide bus trips when their final destinations are places all over the United States of America.”

On Monday afternoon Abbott’s office tore into the DC mayor for her statement, suggesting the roughly 4000 bussed migrants are nothing compared to the hundreds of thousands crossing the US-Mexico border under Biden’s presidency.

“Border communities are overrun and overwhelmed, and Governor Abbott launched the border bus mission back in April to help provide support to these communities pleading for help where the Biden Administration is dumping migrants,” Abbott spokeswoman Renae Eze told DailyMail.com.

She added, “With our nation’s capital now experiencing a fraction of the disaster created by President Biden’s reckless open border policies that our state faces every single day, maybe he’ll finally do his job and secure the border.”

Abbott’s spokeswoman stressed that the point of the bussing program was less about sticking them in DC and more about putting the undocumented migrants at Biden’s own doorstep so he cannot continue to ignore the problem at hand.

“Biden’s open border policies have created an ongoing humanitarian crisis, with record-high illegal crossings and deadly drugs like fentanyl flooding into our state,” Eze said.

May of this year saw an all-time record border crossings with nearly 241,000 recorded in the month, capping off 4 straight months of increases. Do you think Texas and Arizona are right to send the undocumented migrants to DC for them to deal with? Does Bowser’s statement mean it is working?
