AOC Admits To Feeling Effects Of Biden Economy In Her Own Life

Democrat Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez shared her frustrations over the financial cost of living in Washington DC to work in Congress and the pitfalls of Biden’s economy.

This comes after a recent controversy where she claimed that Capitol police opened the door for January 6 protestors – something conservatives have been claiming for a year.

The Brooklyn Congresswoman complained that members of Congress are required to occupy one residence in Washington, D.C. and one in the state they represent. She says this creates “class dynamics” within Congress and makes it harder for people who cannot afford two keep two separate houses in different states. Washington DC is one of the most expensive zip codes in the country.

“It’s insanely expensive, there is no stipend or per diem for it, and you’re not allowed to write it off even though your job forces you to have it,” she opined.

“This creates real class dynamics in the House,” she wrote in a post on her Instagram story

“Many sleep in their offices, but if you are caught, it could get bad for many reasons, including violations,” she continued.

She then talks about how the costs of living have gone up significantly in the last year (under President Biden), “I rent in both cities. It’s so so much… We have to find a new apartment in NYC soon and I’m STRESSED. Rent is wild and the idea of [apartment] searching and moving while legislating and campaigning is yikes.”

One Fox contributor did commiserate with AOC on this point and says it does keep regular people from being representatives.

AOC makes a salary of $174,000 according to the amount Congress set in 2009. This mean she makes well above most Americans, though, who are making life changing decisions at the gas pump right now.

According to Redfin, the median rent ask in the country rose 15 percent to a record amount of $2,002. New York City where the Congresswoman lives has seen a 35 percent increase in rent costs in the last year in rents under Biden’s economy. According to Real Estate Witch, rent prices are rising four times faster than income. The cost of rent has gone up in 2022 and 20221 by 3.8 percent after rebounding from the pandemic. Most Americans spend 30 percent of their annual income on housing.

The full impact of Biden’s economy has not hit us at this point and it will be a while before we understand just how bad it really has gotten.

Steve Bannon Recaps His Trial, Torches Media

AOC should look inward at her own party and start to question some of the policies that they have put forward if she wants to fix it. Her progressive policies are running rampant on our pocketbooks and making it hard for Americans to live. Do you think that AOC is right about rent costs being too high? Let us know your thoughts.
